The Denver Park Trust (DPT), in a partnership led by Denver Parks and Recreation, has assisted in the acquisition of two properties adjacent to existing city owned land at 44th and Pearl St. for a future public park in Globeville. The DPT contributed $50,000 from its Park Fund to support DPR’s purchase and fund future park amenities.
The future park will be the only public green space in a section of Globeville that is hemmed in by I-25 to the west, I-70 to the north, a busy Washington Street to the east, and railroad tracks to the south. Once built, the park will provide area residents with access to improved mental and physical health through opportunities for recreation and relaxation, exercise, and socialization.
In the time period between land acquisition and park design and construction, the DPT, in partnership with the GES Coalition, Birdseed Collective, Prodigy Coffeehouse, the Office of Councilman Darrell Watson, and others, will be working with Denver Parks and Recreation to provide access to the site for community events and set the stage for a community-led park planning process.
