October 4th, 2023: The Denver Park Trust (DPT) has named Mikayla Perry (she, her, hers) as its first Director of Development and Engagement. In her role, Perry, a top talent with a track record of success, will lead fundraising, event planning, and community outreach for DPT.
“We’re excited to have Mikayla join our team. She brings fundraising skills and experience in advocacy and social justice to our growing organization. With Mikayla on board, we’re well positioned to advance our mission to ensure every resident, in every neighborhood, lives within a 10-minute walk or roll of a high-quality park,” said Shannon Fender, DPT Interim Board Chair.
“I am genuinely overjoyed to step into this role at DPT,” said Mikayla Perry. “Combining my passion for building resources in underserved communities with my strong belief in the power of the outdoors, I’m eager to join forces with local communities to enhance and expand Denver’s parks and open spaces. Together, I hope to create a lasting impact that ensures equitable access to these cherished community spaces.”
Mikayla Perry has been working in the nonprofit sector in Colorado for the past seven years, holding previous positions at One Colorado, Aging Resources of Douglas County, and AmeriCorps. Perry was also a member of the Peace Corps, serving as a health and water sanitation volunteer in Ghana for two years prior to moving to Colorado.
