The Denver Park Trust is partnering with the John H. Amesse Elementary Roadrunner Walking Trail committee to create a healthy walking trail that starts on school property and continues through Elmendorf Park.
When completed, the trail will extend for one mile around the perimeter of John H. Amesse Elementary School and Elmendorf Park providing students, school staff, and the community surrounding the school and park with an avenue to exercise and connect with nature.
The future trail will feature artwork along the existing sidewalk with culturally-relevant messages promoting healthy living. To date, the welcoming archway has been restored, two new benches were added to the park, and a Jenn Swing, an amenity designed for mobility challenged individuals, was added to the playground
In July, 2022 the Denver Park Trust awarded a $5,000 Community Grant for this project.
