In 2018, The Cole community’s Five Points Youth Ambassadors, came together to reimagine St. Charles Place Park—a 1.2 acre park located in the Cole neighborhood at 37th and Lafayette Street, and a park that has not seen an investment in new amenities in several decades.
Construction was halted in late 2019 due to cost overruns and a lack of final funding to complete the $1.5 million renovation of the entire park. The Denver Park Trust launched a capital campaign and raised the final $150,000 needed for construction of a natural playground.
The park was reopened to the community on June 26, 2021 with a community celebration hosted by the Five Points Youth Ambassadors and the Denver Park Trust and attended by Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Denver Parks and Recreation Director Happy Haynes and members of the Cole community.
