The Denver Park Trust is partnering with the Cornerstone Skate Foundation to create a skateboarding community through a series of pop-up learn to skate clinics in an area of Southeast Denver where youth do not have access to skateparks or skate equipment.
The clinics will be held on April 15, 22, and 29, 2023 at Rosamond Park and led by qualified instructors. Students from three nearby elementary schools—Samuels, Holm, and Shoemaker—will be invited to participate. Sixty-five percent or more of the students at these schools qualify for free or reduced lunch, an indicator of family income.
The clinics will be free and each participant will be given a skateboard to take home at the end of the clinic. An estimated 45-60 youth will be served.
In May, 2022 the Denver Park Trust awarded a $5,000 Community Grant for this project.
