More partners to come!

When will the park be built?

There is currently no timeline for construction of the new park. Here’s where things stand:

  • 2024 | Buying the Land

In March 2024, the land at 4400 Pearl St. was purchased by the City of Denver for the new park. Denver Parks and Recreation now owns it. The City Council also approved the land to be used as a public park.

  • 2026-27 | Community Visioning

Through a grant from the Colorado Health Foundation, partners in the Globeville area are asking people what they want in the new park. You can share your ideas here.

  • TBD | Design & Construction

After the Community Visioning process is completed, funding is needed to design and build the park. Depending on the cost of what the community decides is needed in the park, the Design & Construction phase could take approximately 2 to 3 years.

How big is the park?

Approximately 1 acre (a little smaller than the size of a football field).

Who owns and manages the land?

The City of Denver owns the land and it is managed by Denver Parks and Recreation. Once constructed, the park will be open to the public.

What will the park be used for?

You can help decide! The current Community Visioning process gives Globeville residents a voice in creating what the park will look like, what features are included, and what it will be used for.

How can people get involved?

  • Take the survey.
  • Sign up for updates. You’ll learn about upcoming events, focus groups, and park updates.
  • Spread the word and encourage other Globeville residents to take the survey.

Will the design the community creates be the final design?

The design created by the community is called a “Concept Design”. It gives a general sense of what the community would like included in the park. The Concept Design may change due to budget, safety, and maintenance reasons.

What can NOT be included in the park?

Because of the park’s small size and budget, Denver Parks and Recreation has identified the following elements that can not be included in this park:

    • Permanent restrooms
    • Splashpad or pool
    • Parking lot
    • Dog park

Who is the Denver Park Trust?

The Denver Park Trust is a nonprofit organization that works with residents, neighborhood groups, community leaders, and Denver Parks and Recreation to add new parks where none exist and enhance the parks we have. The Denver Park Trust is not part of the city government or parks department.

Who is paying for the park?

The City of Denver purchased the land for the park with the help of a $50,000 contribution from the Denver Park Trust. The Colorado Health Foundation provided a $50,000 grant award to the Denver Park Trust to facilitate a community-led visioning process. At this time, there is no official commitment from Denver Parks and Recreation or other sources to build the park.

Why is the community visioning being led by local partners instead of Denver Parks and Recreation?

The Pocket Park has not been included in the Denver Parks and Recreation budget.  To advance the timeline and ensure an inclusive and meaningful community engagement process, Denver Parks and Recreation supported Denver Park Trust, local residents, and community partners in seeking outside funding for the park. Denver Parks and Recreation continues to provide guidance to the Community Visioning process and will use the community’s vision to shape the park’s design.
